Xyndas, Spiridion

1812-1896

Born at Corfu, Greece. He became quite a prolific composer, his newGreek songs being very charming and popular. He also produced some successful ballad-operas entitled Count Julian, The Two Rivals, and The Parliamentary Candidate. In spite of his talent his last years were spent in poverty. He died at Athens.
